Collaboration Notes for Weekly Meetings with Rachael 1.5 hr/Meeting
Date/Notes
October 20th
Today we took a lot of time to work with our IPADS. Since our school does not have WiFi, we traveled over to Panera for our Lunch/Prep. While working, we discovered how easy it was to hop right on to the internet and download apps in no time. We took the time to search for apps relevant to classsroom activities and downloaded such apps. Examples of apps include Pianoscores, virtuoso, pianosongs, artweb, doodlepads and so on. The list can go on and on. We found that we often use childrens books on the IPAD as an anticipatory set in lessons for our younger students. We searched for and downloaded many books. Websites we researched for IPad Use included: theteachingpalette.com/2010/12/13/the...,
apexhsart.blogspot.com/2011/01/top-5-..., twitoaster.com/country-us/elemenous/t...www.musicteachershelper.com/blog/usef ipmep.org/2010/04/05/teaching-all-the
Also discussed Skype Meeting from Previous week.

Continued IPAD technology and discussed where we are with the project. After becoming more comfortable with the IPAD, we began to research online other technologies that we may want to purchase with our grant money. In doing this, we found that the IPod Touch was something we both were interested in as it has video and audio recording capabilities and a still camera. Our only concern was whether or not all of the apps that we downloaded or purchased would easily transfer over to the IPod Touch. We later learned that you are allowed multiple devices on your itunes account and this would not be a problem. This afternoon we also discussed where we thought this project was headed and in what direction we should keep going.
Websites we reseached about technologies included: apple.com, thejournal.com/articles/2010/01/27/me..., wirededucator.wordpress.com/2010/01/2...learningwithipads.blogspot.com/ -projects.minot.k12.nd.us/groups/chris, www.ideastoinspire.co.uk/ipodtouch.htm
November 3rd Projectors We decided today that we want to learn how set up and use our projectors. We spent an entire hour and a half hooking up and trying out our projectors. We now know how simple it is to use them and plan to use them more in the future. We have found, however, that in some cases, brightness, quality and lighting could be better. Particularly with the pocket projector.
November 10th Since we had a meeting Friday, we had a lot to discuss today about the actual project, a traveling art/music exibit. We discussed the possiblities and drawbacks, and whether or this is actually possible with 6 schools. We talked about how we are going to be able to measure inspiration, as that is our underlying issue the cig is wrestling with. We both agree that this would be a wonderful experience for our students and a natural connection to last years work.
November 17th Today we continued to research technologies that are available for us to order with our grant money. We took the list and went over each item to see if that item would benefit us in the classroom. The items that we researched the most were accessories for our Ipads and Ipod touch and a dvd recorder to use with our netbooks. Here are a few of the websites that we explored. www.ipadaccessories.com/ www.ipadshouse.com/ipad-helps-principwww.associatedcontent.com/article/295. We also explored the options of the Promethian Board and Pen sets and decided that since we have two schools, it would not benefit us to get one set. We filled out our order forms and e-mailed our selections to David.
December 1st Today we went over what "HAS" to get done at our next IU meeting in 2 days. We need to agree upon the "Earth Day" topic as inspiration for our "Show" and how the project will transpire for each teacher and we "NEED" to come up with a pre/post test that measures creativity and inspriration. We came up with our own personal goal list for Friday so that we can get started on the project right after Christmas. We also went over notes on the wiki from previous meetings and skype sessions.
December 8th The first that we discussed today was the Pre/Post Creativity test that we want to have ready for after the holiday. We continued to research creativity activities and went over questions that we would like to include on the test. We explored a bunch of creativity tests online, and decided how to present this to elementary students. Some sites we explored: http://www.andyrutledge.com/creativity-is-not-design-test-2.phphttp://www.eatsleepteach.com/2009/08/educational-mashups-part-two-the-30-circle-test/ We also discussed how much information to give that students in regards to the creativity test. Another concern we had was the length of the questionarre that would accompany the creativity test.
January 19th
After recieving technologies last week, we opened all of our technologies and began learning how to use all of them. We attacked the DVD drive first, since our netbooks don't have one and learned how to run them. We then had the idea of creating a short DVD to show our classes as more inspiration on "Earth" related issues using our new technologies. We even experimented with the windows movie maker and made a short dvd of our own families.(Found out it was really simple!) We worked with all of our different technologies to find out what device created the best voice recordings so that we could use that device for recordings for our final project.
January 26th
Skype meeting coming up tonight. We are going to share our findings upon giving our pre-test and creativity tests to the students. We also came up with an agenda for our meeting on Sunday to create our inspiration video. We decided to both have a collection of images and youtube videos showing earth related issues. We have a lot of work to do and share.
